I still don't see how industry can function without reliable base-load power. Let's take aluminium smelters - require massive reliable 24/7 energy supply.
How would they function during times of prolonged cloud cover or times when the wind simply doesn't blow for extended periods. Let's take it one step further - where would we even get the power to charge a growing EV fleet during these times?.
We carry over $1 trillion in fed gov debt which has to be repaid through export dollars - mining and manufacturing which both require massive amounts of energy.
Australia has no option but to move to nuclear base-load power generation as an important mix to our energy solutions and our way back to manageable debt.
