at the part of the act, where people are crying, the relevant part of the song was

as art, the piece is brilliant , and watso has watched the video several times.
however, do not bother getting into the history of it all. as usual, the victors write the history. the germans did treat the slavs as sub human - but nevertheless, hitler did sign a non aggression pact with russia (Molotov-Ribbentrop pact) - and when hitler invaded poland - then russia also marched into eastern poland - because that is what the pact allowed russia to do. oh - not just eastern poland, but the baltic states etc - which included finland.
obviously, during world war 2, stalin was portrayed as a ally - and a friend - and finland was presented as a supporter of hitler - but this is where it gets so complex - finland was fighting russia - and could get help from germany.
now - back to the video - and ukraine has talent. ukraine was a part of the soviet union - but stalin was a bastard to the ukrainians (just check out the artificial famine in the early 1930's) and when hitler invaded the ukraine, then it could be understandable that a lot of ukrainians saw hitler as a saviour - but hitler treated the slavs as sub human - and ukrainians joined up with stalin (but they were already a part of the soviet union). oh - and after the war, stalin wanted to exterminate all people, who had been under any contact of the germans.
the politics are rotten, stalin discovered the church in ww2 (because it was a unifying cause ) but people are people, and forget the politics, they love their children, and those that are dear to them - and that is what this bit of art is all about ... it does not matter about the politics, this is a story about love- and how she does it, is so beautiful
watso will not mention everything. as a kid, though, there were the davixxxxs up the street - she was ukrainian, and he was russian - the son was my friend. the police were there on a regular basis (domestic violence)..boy oh boy - was that funny - i recall that "ANNA" was in her part of the house - and she would stick her head out, and toss a few things down the alley way - and NICK would toss a few missiles in return. but what a joke -when friends visited, there was a truce - but the war resumed immediately the friends left
a neighbour (ie not "up the street") - a german mother, with a russian father (a world war two union - work that one out), who married a ukrainian. anyway, the extended family of the german/russian union, have provided an incredibly well known australian, and another "slightly lesser known" australian
anyway, many people can sing. watso's ex sister in law could sing beautifully - she had a magic voice - but she was simply not discovered - but how many people can do this type of art??????????????
