Unfortunately, I can only agree with your pessimistic comment.
Initially, I thought that US could intervene to limit US dollar strength, given all the negative consequences, both for US companies and out of the US. But, later on, I realized that US uses the USD to limit imported inflation, so their will to intervene may be quite limited.
