Its not the fast release its slow release. Through a needle its fast release but lot medication works more effectively if its slow released like vaccination. Currently vaccinations are given mostly using a needle and the vaccine is pumped into the blood stream but in case of a patch it will slow release at a pre specified quantity (controlled) into the blood stream which works better and only needs less vaccine too. Same is the case with insulin too. Slow and controlled release of insulin into the body is much more effective than a needle.
