The recent news about Australia having the least affordable housing in the world must be completely off the mark then.
The IMF also warned that Australia was overpriced by about 30%....before the rises happened in 2009.
I think if you did a poll right now about whether people consider housing to be affordable, I am pretty sure the result would be different to your opinion.
