Yes, it continues!
In June, on the Melbourne to Sydney direction of that route, QAN 'own livery' planes were cancelled an astounding 21.2 per cent of the time. 189 flights got the karate chop. It is a high frequency route but outside of the morning/afternoon weekday peak periods, that means a minimum "extra" delay of half an hour, and more if you're unlucky and the next flight is claimed by QAN to be full.
Virgin Oz's comparable cancellation rate on this route, going north, was 10.2 per cent of flights: 87 did not operate. It's true QAN 'own planes' have greater frequency but it advertises this and although getting you to a destination on time and on the same day isn't part of the contract, delays are annoying, especially if patrons have an appointment at the destination, whether for business or a funeral/wedding/cruise to catch.
But let's not worry: QAN has an excuse for everything.
