No. Profit = Total Revenue - Total Expenses.
So, If you buy something for 5 cents and then sell it for 25 cents, the is a profit of 20 cents or 400% profit.
I'm actually paying 32 cents for my general tariff. So in my case I am selling my power to them in the daytime for 5 cents and buying it back in the night time for 32 cents. So the profit is 27 cents or 540% profit.
An efficiency loss of 2c/kwh represents 40% loss of power. That's wrong. The loss depends on transmission distance and is no where near that much.Since, nearly all neighbourhoods still consume more power than they produce, your solar power never gets stepped up through the transformer and exported into the real grid.. It all gets consumed by your nearby neighbours. So the transmission losses are negligible.
