Please consider these points:
1. Did you know it hasn't rained in Perth since last October?
2. Have you ever flown across Australia? At least look at it on Google Earth and realise that the greater part of it is desert or otherwise non-arable!
3. Do you know we will have lost most of our topsoil in 50 years due to over-clearing, over-grazing, over-cultivation, and drought?
4. Don't liken Australia to the USA. Despite their similar size they are not in the same league when it comes to carrying capacity, due to poor or non-existent soils, lack of water, and consequent lack of feasible sites for decentralisation.
