These are excerpts from announcements. Read into it what you may.
"“The receipt of our first demo wafers was a pivotal milestone as Weebit progresses to
commercialisation. These wafers were cut and packaged into chips that customers can use to test
the parameters of our embedded ReRAM within their own applications, supporting adoption ahead
of technology qualification and commercial orders. In parallel, we continue to progress the longerterm development of a solution for the discrete memory market and have demonstrated our first
operational crossbar arrays.
“We are executing on our commercialisation strategy and are progressing on multiple commercial
opportunities with potential partners and customers. Some are looking at fabricating at SkyWater’s
foundry, while other potential customers are exploring using Weebit’s technology at other
foundries. We are working with these potential customers to define ways for them to incorporate
our technology into their products, so they will be ready for production once our ReRAM has been
qualified."
"After receiving the silicon wafers containing the demo chips from manufacturing in December, Weebit,
together with its development partner CEA-Leti, sliced the wafers into chips, packaged them, and has
now completed functional testing of the chips. Testing included programming (set and reset) and
reading of the entire ReRAM array using smart algorithms, error correcting code (ECC) and various
data manipulations. It also included testing the operation of the complete sub-system comprising all
communication interfaces and system peripherals, as well as software running on the RISC-V
microcontroller (MCU). The entire chip is performing as expected.
These highly integrated chips will now be used for characterisation and qualification – the next steps
on Weebit’s commercialisation path." These go out to potential clients so that they can integrate their design requirements into the development module and test all parameters to their requirements. From there it does not need qualification as normally required and it then can be transferred to the FAB for production. This reduces over 8 months of work.
Q3 : 22 Report
“Our demo chips, designed as a System on a Chip (SoC), provide potential customers with physical
samples of our ReRAM memory technology within fully operational chips. While this is an important
step towards delivery of a commercial product, it also enables potential customers to begin
incorporating Weebit’s memory technology within their future product designs".
"SkyWater will then add Weebit’s ReRAM to its 130nm Process Design Kit, enabling SkyWater
customers to license Weebit’s technology and embed it within new product designs they develop
and mass-produce at SkyWater’s fab".
My belief and take on this is that in conjunction with SkyWater we possibly already have multiple clients now working to integrate and test their designs ready for production once qualification is complete.
I think that we will see full production early next year.
As I have said before several times, we are in the box seat in regards ReRAM and that expecting and waiting for things to happen in 18mths or more is not an option with WBT.
My belief is that the pressure is on (including discrete) to fast track into production and make a dent in the shortfall of the semiconductor industry and with SkyWater so close to the "Politics" of the US government & DOD my feeling is that WBT investors may be in for a big surprise in the coming months.
Just looking at where the dots are falling into place IMO
