You might be interested in HGO's beginnings in that little town of Hillgrove in Northern NSW.
20+ years ago HGO was known as Hillgrove Gold NL and owned the Hillgrove mine in northern NSW (now owned by RVR)
When RVR bought the mine they were saying that the dipsticks who owned the mine before them failed because they were concentrating on Antimony when the main game should be gold.
Interestingly Hill Grove Gold NL failed going down the gold route and walked away from the Hillgrove mine after spending $9m in 1999 which was a big wack back then installing a new gold pressure oxidation process.
Wasn't the fear about planes falling out of the air and the world coming to an end at the end of 1999 a lot of nonsense.
The independant directors of the company I was running at the time insisted we get independant consultant's reports about every aspect of the business even down to whether the garden sprinklers would come on after midnight on the 1/1/2000. Unlike me they didn't have a lot of skin in the game so didn't see what a waste of money that was . They needed to do due diligence to have a defence if things went wrong.
If the sprinklers didn't come on my plan was to water the gardens with a hose until we sorted it out and not waste money on consultants gazing at their belly buttons at great expense.
