"do chart enthusiasts beat the market?"
Firstly, two questions for you.
1. Are you an investor or trader?
2. Do you put enough hours into Fundamental Analysis before a purchase?
If you want to 'chart' (TA), then you need to put a lot of time in initially to learn the styles/patterns/algorthims/math behind it. Once learnt then we chartists can analyse very quickly. Each chartist on this thread has their own methods or preferences (e.g. ema's, Bollies, RSI, OBV, Volume, candles, bars, the list goes on) Find 2-4 the work for you!! and start small. Most importantly, KISS!!

Do we make more money?, as a trader, YES (have core investment in boring stocks). Been an analyst for 30years and love how it stimulates my brain cells. Make $$$$$ along the way.

You need to be honest with yourself and answer the first 2 questions. If you don't put in the effort, then you will get burnt!
Lastly, IMO, Fundamentals are essential but don't always make me buy a stock, however if the chart says buy or sell I act on it, take ALL emotion out of it. It is about making $$$.
