ASIC Short Report (net shorts) 3 Aug data suggests there was no covering, in fact slight increase of 113k to 8.46M (3.71%) despite the 1.67M shares traded. I noted at the time and late in the session was the increased size of sell lots, which may have resulted in this slight increase in the net short position as they attempted to create a line of defense.

We'll get 4 Aug data tomorrow, which again was on higher volume 1.61M (which is 2.86x YTD average vol).

Also of note was the period between 7 March and 21 March. Short covering from 10.85M short (4.77%) to 6.33M short (2.78%) - lead to only small incremental price increase. It appears the 5M traded on 18/3 gave them the opportunity to exit without too much damage inflicted.

I'm now increasingly suspicious of (which we've flagged to ASIC) the potential 'washing' going by these long short funds to extract themselves from oversized and now losing positions.

Alternatively our new CEO has immediately attracted some big fish onto the register.
