heres my problem:
as the nominal amount of dollars inflates ctindale then something must be deflating. your physics analogy would tell you that.
I can't cope with a theory that says something is disappearing into thin air
so I reckon what is deflating is the real value of dollars (which we can only measure in gold - even if the game is to make such a measurement almost impossible)
you say it doesn't get circulated but who knows where something as intangible as real value is moving
my guess is that Bens printing disappears into the dubious bowels of our wondrous financial machines to surface quietly in asset markets all over which have every chance of reaching higher nominal values but at greatly deflated real values (and of course in the increased nominal value of pms)
so the game is all about nominal values of a commodity that is essentially paper where we don't know the true value of anything and in that game I reckon the likes of Ben and his mates are the grand masters (they have done a great job of confusing everyone about the true value of gold to date)
all I can do is remember that gold is money and have a well defined concept of currency as something entirely different
and in this context I reckon the scenario of the economic crisis being expressed as high nominal values of assets everywhere but the real values of those assets everywhere tanking is quite a realistic one
I think you are saying much the same but that investment is all about timing isn't it
... so maybe some Oz goldminers in your bag of tricks just in case someone lights the fuse on the hyperinflationy skyworks accidentally and you don't have a good seat?
