Thanks to all who replied to my question. We have just trawled through the FAQs on the Westpac site and discovered that a sell within 2 days of a buy gets credited on settlement day.
My other half who has been investing for 30 years maintains they must have changed the rules, he can't have been wrong for so long.
E-trade remains a mystery.
