Not really...Letters of Credit are due on a date payable regardless of where the shipment is at. I.e. If a LoC is dated for 30 days from shipment, say the ship leaves on day 1, regardless of where it is on day 30, the bank releases the payment to the supplier (i.e. PLS). This means the risk of the shipment is born by the customer, so if the shipment takes for example 90 days, PLS is still guaranteed payment by the bank after 30.
