I was again at the MYR flagship Melbourne CBD store early this morning, prior to 1100, and there were already quite a few young women on 'their floors', plus a substantial number of older males given MYR has designated this as a 'super (long) weekend' sale.
One difficulty is that as seasonal stock changes, not every store will have each ranged item, nor each advertised size, but I found what I wanted, a men's coat.
I even had to queue for attention by a sales assistant.
Things may change as the recession wears on and people spend more on overseas travel and thus have fewer savings for clothing and other goods the likes of MYR sells (outbound travel still hasn't reached the levels of 2019) but this morning in the store I observed quite a few visitors speaking in Mandarin, and some speaking Spanish.
One would typically have rarely heard the latter during 2020 and 2021, so indicative of a slow rise in visitation. Sadly, many have been put off by how Victoria has become a police state, as overseas residents in their millions saw videos of the way we locals have been treated by police.
