I am an internet marketer, but not an employee of wotif.com.
I never said that accomodation search volume was in an uptrend, but I just checked and your claim of a downtrend is correct - http://www.google.com/trends?q=flights%2Ctravel%2Chotels%2Capartments
As an aside, flights search is in an uptrend.
Their traffic is 50% search traffic, that is a bit disadvantageous when search volume is declining. So I guess if you're going to be holding wotif.com long-term you'll need to verify that they have an evolving marketing strategy, and are not sticking with what works for them now.
Do tech companies release business plans and marketing plans? I have not owned a company like this before, and I don't own this one, but it'd be very useful to see their plans before buying into such a volitile industry.
