aaah zip sometimes I’m just a little busy and HC is a bit of a silly distraction. I resort to it when I need a rest. I’m in to my fourth event this year - well one a full on half day show with around 150 paying patrons, two gallery exhibitions, one with works in a vineyard and another commission for a public event. Plus I’m still working.
one thing that HC is useful for however is to remind me that the world has people in it whose views I find astounding and sometimes distasteful though in this weird world we currently inhabit I find myself remaining staunchly feminist but increasingly conservative on social values while thinking capitalism has had its ugly day (b if I know what would work better though as I’m not much into rewarding lazy a ‘S who don’t see any need to contribute to society of taxes)
as for kinship obligations cities have plenty of different ethnic groups for whom these obligations remain strong. I know it’s slightly different from how it operates for indigenous people but I was actually objecting to the generalisation. People in cities have also worked alongside these communities. Lived in rural communities worked in organisations that have to tackle these problems.
mind you I can recall an experience in PNG when talking about kinship and families and the way whanau (and my own extended whanau and cousins ) operated in NZ compared with them. It’s not wildly different but I could see many of the Australians simply didn’t get it
