A coal fired power/nuclear station is a very complex installation as compared to a wind turbine base.

Really? Wow. A lightbulb moment perhaps?? You failed to mention they outlast any wind turbine by a factor of 3 plus and provide a heck of a lot more base power and to date perhaps you can provide evidence of them lighting up the skies in broad daylight. Never a dull moment with your posts - remind us all how they burn down.

Way cheaper and easier to scrap them and build a new one.

So, a proponent of the 'throw away generation' - but a lying one at that. The following report whilst dated, quotes refurbishment of coal fired plants in Australia. Of note is the longevity of these plants compared to some of those burning windmills.

    https://www.gem.wiki/Existing_coal-fired_power_stations_in_Australia

    Excerpt:
Callide A was originally constructed in 1965, was refurbished and recommissioned in April 1998.

Thomas Playford B power station is operated by Flinders Power, a subsidiary of Alinta Energy. It uses brown coal, was commissioned in 1963 and was refurbished in 2005.

Even Scott Morrison had concerns re base load disappearing:

    https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2022/mar/14/scott-morrison-says-coal-power-stations-should-run-as-long-as-they-possibly-can

    Excerpt:
Morrison said the Coalition’s policy is for coal power stations to “run as long as they possibly can” to provide baseload power “when the wind doesn’t blow and the sun doesn’t shine”.

“We want to see replacement for that reliable, affordable capacity here in the central coast.”

Reliable and affordable base load power provided by coal fired power generation - even Morrison knew it. Time to feed some squirrels??
