If you read the law enacted via Obama what you said is correct,...EXCEPT specifically.... the POTUS and VPOTUS were excluded from these provisions

Its undisputed DT had a Standing Order that indicated all documents moved into his residence and from the Oval Office or elsewhere in the WH were by definition...declassified

There is SFA here...and it was never about that
It was about looking for something...anything...that might lead them to what they consider the Holy Grail...how to get DT..in anyway and in any fashion

Classified is not a prerequisite for Trump's document troubles, being Classified just amplifies them.

Anyway, it seems Trump did take Classified documents, as per the signed statement from Trump's lawyer.
