At 3 billion barrels, TotalEnergies’ Venus is sub-Saharan Africa’s biggest oil discovery
"According to Eco, the Venus well holds at least 3 billion barrels. It said Wood Mackenzie made this estimate “conservatively”.
Westwood Global Energy Group said Venus, along with the Graff-1 well discovered by Shell in nearby Block 2913A, prove the existence of a prolific oil kitchen. Its analysis suggests that the Lower Cretaceous Venus play has a potential extent of up to ~58,000 square kilometres (km²), comparable to that of the Upper Cretaceous of Suriname-Guyana."
