It says “Questions around appointments of this nature are a matter for the government of the day and the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.”

The government of the day was a Coalition government. How can a whole of government decision have been made when almost no-one in the Coalition knew anything about it? Surely this has to have been in breach of some sort of Charter or something which requires for there to be transparency between the Nats and the Libs, especially over decisions made on matters of national importance.

The spokesman for Governor-General David Hurley, says that any explanations for the appointment are "a matter for the government of the day”. It seems like he is describing Section 65, rather than 64 (see below).

Whatever the case may be, I don't believe that ScoMo acted within the spirit of what the legislation intended, which is for it to be a democratic tool rather than a tool which would allow for the creation of Banana Republic.

It'll be very interesting to find out what is uncovered in the probe which Albo has ordered into the whole, messy, dodge-balls affair.
