India tests nuclear-capable missile
India has tested a nuclear-capable medium ballistic missile at its test range in Chandipur in the eastern state of Orissa.
The indigenously built, Prithvi-111 missile, has a strike range of about 300 kilometres.
It can be launched either from a ship or a submarine and is capable of destroying land targets.
The 8.5 metre missile is part of India's Integrated Guided Missile Development Program.
It has the latest on-board computer and an advanced inertial navigation system.
India's missile test comes just days after rival Pakistan conducted a similar test.
The two nuclear rivals routinely carry out missile tests.
