It's not all egalitarian in OZ. I worked for a private hospital group for a number of years and the social distinction between the Surgeons, the Theatre nurses, the Matron (as she was then called) and the Plebs was remarkable (I was somewhere in between). But this social distincion didn't stop some surgeons in engaging in some 'hank panky' with the lower class!
The Matron and myself had some very 'engaging' discussions as I was not used to these hierarchal distinctions in the work place. Fortunately for me the days of the Matron being the dominant person in a hospital was just starting to wane.
