While I wouldn't say it is a dud, I believe that the operation has been historically hard work.

The bug plant has always been high cost to operate, the underground deep and old.

It is not as easy as some of the there operations that management have been involved with.

will it "kill the pig" - no.
is there plenty of gold in the system - yes
could it make money - yes.
will it be a hard operation with low margins - yes.

so is it a dud - I don't think so but it will be (and has shown to be) a difficult operation.
