The single major difference between the TAB and the corporates is I can walk into 5 different TABs within a short radius, pay with cash with no ID required and get cash back on a major win , again without ID (unless i'm winning thousands).
This fact alone means lots of people will continue with the TAB, even if it is the mugs who are having a punt and a beer and a good time.
