Typically local governments (councils) are responsible for approval of development applications however there are certain projects (mostly determined by project value) that fall outside of the purview of local government and need to be referred to the DAP for approval. You can find more information on the thresholds for DAP applications via this link:- https://www.wa.gov.au/government/document-collections/current-development-assessment-panel-applications-and-information

The DAP is a department of the WA state government and generally accepts the recommendations of local governments except for instances where the project is not in the interests of the State. EGR's Kwinana BAM project already has WA state government support and the proposed project site is located within a designated strategic industrial area (SIA).

The most rigorous part of the development application process was clearing the CoR Planning and Engineering Services Committee. We have done that. Tonight our development application will go before the CoR Ordinary Council for a vote by the full Council. The only reason a project might atall at this stage is if there was fierce opposition from the local government area community. I don't anticipate any issues here, particularly given that the project is within an SIA and there is an adequate buffer zone surrounding the area – and it's not as though we are proposing to build a nuclear reactor.

Approval of our development application is essentially a done deal, but we still have to go through the process.

JTSI are responsible for providing Lead Agency support and would have facilitated engagement with support agencies such as DWER and EPA. I don't anticipate any issues with securing the Works Approval and I expect this to be confirmed shortly.
