    I saw this pumped over on Reddit so I thought I’d have a look here.

    Westpac didn’t “buy” anything, sorry.

    Read the release again and read it carefully. WBC hold the shares on behalf of HSBC. HSBC Custody Nominees (Australia) Limited are the registered holder - not WBC.

    In turn HSBC Custody Nominees holds shares for many many many individual clients. This can range from institutional investors to super funds to 708s to retail.
