I wouldn't defend the state funeral for Packer for a moment. Who knows how much it cost, $1m? It's irrelevant. What is relevant is how and why the free to air media has been given a free kick worth $250m.
All taxpayers should be asking those questions. What does the government expect in return for this largesse?
