A key bit in this announcement was that we said that we are the only entity currently commercially developing laser enrichment. Which implies that somewhere else, there is a government out there that is currently trying to do the same thing that we are doing. This could be bad for us, if they beat us to the punch, but it should also provide the DoE with some much needed urgency to ensure that the free(ish) world maintains our technological edge.
