A half cent "manipulation" (if that is what you want to call it) at close equals a change in company valuation of less than $7m - or a variation of about 2.5% in corporate value. Most investors would invest based on fundamental results, combined with expectations of corporate news, or the price of gold, or macro world conditions. These will drive the price direction more than a daily fiddle at the end of trade.

IMO what we need is to hear that Norseman is starting operations, or more good PGE drilling results, or good news on their Halls Creek mine.

I fear you are getting hung up on an irrelevancy in the larger scheme of things.
