there is a difference between smart and intelligent, just as between those knowledgeable in some aspects of life and occupation that aren't academic.

intelligence isn't secured by knowledge but knowledge can be secured by intelligence. I've known dairy farmers who left school at a very young age, eg. 12 yr old boy driven from home during severe drought due to food shortage - my former father in law. he was deeply intelligent though unlearned. many are like this and hence, respect for those who aren't academic as much as for those who are.

you wrote sadly of your perception of me as being "superior" and further wrote of your disbelief in my respect for your intelligence. these demonstrate offence taken. we all need skinny shoulders (I like that expression) and to really ignore our perceptions of others as these are coloured by our own judgement. the baiting and inflaming that goes on here means we must ignore much of what is written and refuse to take such personally. if we fail in this we fail only ourselves.
