Shorting, in my very humble opinion, is parasitic, manipulative and totally contrary to the rules of an orderly market.
It is just another gambling tool to satisfy greedy gamblers and fill the coffers of the market operators.
Those who employ it have the adjective applied to them by definition and without reservation.
