I follow the whole Coal to liquids technology and there are various estimates out there on energy extraction from coal.. I have read 1 ton of coal will produce 1 barrel of oil and then read 1 ton of coal will produce 4 barrels of oil?? Confusion!!! But just being practical surely extracting the residual gas from coal would have to be the most inefficient use of the resource.. Perhaps in certain circumstances is has proven to be the least capital intensive way of getting a fast return on expenditure but if Underground Coal to Liquids as RER is currently trying in their pilot plant in Victoria proves a success then their connection with CTP via ROG will be a real Company Maker for all concerned!!
Currently I am sitting on a yacht in the Marina in Cairns where it is pouring rain and the thunder and lightning makes you realise how small you are!! But talking to an old mate who knows the NT very well (been there 30 years and owns several cattle properties) he raises the issue of transport and infracture for CTP future development!!
He says just trying to build a road in this country is a nightmare!!!
No not down ramping as I still hold a lot of options but interested in any other comments on this aspect as I feel most posters agree on long term potential of CTP and current hole Coal measures is very reassuring but how do we get the stuff out?? Genuine question!!
