Having lived and worked in the Territory for over 12 yrs, and knowing quite a few people up and down the food chain, I can tell you there will be no problem with transport and infrastructure. The incumbent Labour gov't and the CLP are very pro business and always have been. The NT and Darwin are very pro development. They live from project to project. I would dare say having a world class coal deposit on there door step would have them drooling.

are we referring to the geography, landscape or red tape.
As per roads, engineers and surveyors, we have some of the finest in the world. The Stuart H'way,the Alice to Darwin rail link, countless good usable roads built in record time. As per red tape,in all my development dealings with the NT gov't I have not found a more down to earth, amenable, approachable bunch of people to deal with. Once the CLP get back in, things can only get better.
Need I point out we already have a pipeline from Alice to Darwin, there is a major truck route, ie the Stuart H'way, and now a under utilised rail link. Sounds like your man can't get a black top built to his front gate, either he doesn't know the right people or he isn't paying the right people.
It sounds a bit wild and wooly for you out there. I hope you have blue skies in the morning.
