Welcome to Day 4 in the DT pre-market, morning & afternoon 'Trials'! I must say I've enjoyed opening the 'morning' sessions on the DT threads and I hope you have too. As always highlandland has been doing an exceptional job opening the 'pre-market' & 'afternoon' threads. Personally I think the 3 sessions have been working very well during the Trial phase so far, and the transition from each session has been quite smooth imo. The Links have also been a fantastic idea, so a special thanks must go out to Raks for that suggestion!

DJIA Index: Finished the session 80pts higher.
SPI Futures: Up 45pts.

Well, US stocks have risen overnight following an unexpected increase in jobless claims and a faster-than-estimated growth in a gauge of manufacturing offset disappointing sales at Wal-Mart stores. [Source: Bloomberg]

Gold is currently up $1.30 and sitting at $1,108.10/oz (Kitco); Oil is up $1.73 to $79.06/barrel (NYMEX/Bloomberg); the AUD is slightly weaker against the US dollar and currently sitting at .8928 cents (Forex. Live).

Also, Energy stocks rallied on Wall Street later in the day before the close.

Of note: The Fed. has raised its symbolic discount rate from 0.5% to 0.75% on continued market improvement.

Also, there's still speculation on whether Greece's debt crisis is indicative of a bigger problem in Europe, and what China's decision to pull back bank lending will mean. [Source: www.cnnmoney.com]
