The semiconductor decade Good morning, I would like to share a McKinsey & Company article titled ‘The semiconductor decade: A trillion-dollar industry’, in the context of where the semiconductor industry and linked markets are headed and what could drive demand over the long term. The Article provides a snapshot of the industry margins and growth projections from an analysis of 48 listed companies, arriving at some of the following insights: The global semiconductor industry is poised for a decade of growth and is projected to become a trillion-dollar industry by 2030 Overall growth in the global semiconductor market is driven by computing and data storage, automotive, and wireless industries The outlook for the semiconductor industry is positive, notwithstanding potential short-term volatility due to supply-demand mismatches and changing global economic and geopolitical outlook As the impact of digital technology on people and businesses accelerates, the semiconductor markets and the industry in general is a strategic focus for governments, businesses, and investors.
