Most historians would agree that Russia had a long and rich cultural history (intermingled with a few backward periods like most civilisations) but the last few years has seen a severe decline. Pootin has shown up for some photo shoots with some people and organizations of note in an attempt to improve his image but the reality is that anyone with the means or education to flee Russia, has.

Pootin has made the once great Orthodox church into just another arm of his despotic regime and any Russian scholar, artist or leader who dares to put an alternative view is quickly "suppressed" even if they are already outside the country. Instead of trying to emulate their forebears any Russians with some intelligence and morals have retreated into their own shells and all those willing to follow Pootins lead are making their homeland the scourge of Europe. Unfortunately once Pootin is gone that reputation will take generations to erase.
