forgive me if I was a bit shoddy handling your post. But there are extenuating circumstances.

Firstly, spanner's posts and your admitted ignorance of ETF's - though you still have an opinion of sorts about them - make me defend ETF's much more than I want to.

But here goes.

Buying bullion from places like the Mint comes with no guarentees unless you get an assay certificate. When you sell bullion to places like the mint: do you think that they bother to check the purity? Nup - just a quick visual, because all that they will do is sell it to the next patsy that walks thru the door and asks to buy a one ounce bar.

Anyways, your sentence actually went like this: "Bullion - the scams in small bars are not existent from what I have read - as long as you buy from places like the mint."

Now, I don't mean to give a lesson in english, but the phrase inside your hyphens stand alone, ie: "the scams in small bars are not existent from what I have read".

But, certainly, I stand corrected on the bit aobut mines and confiscation; or words to that effect. I did read your post thoroughly, however, I responded to that bit shoddily and should have re-read that bit.


As for physical during hard times, yep, I took it that you prefer physical during dark times. I just think that religion is better during dark times, unless, perhaps you have the other metals to go along with the gold.


Look, basically you admitted your ignorance about ETF's; which is fine. But it is clear that you think that they are dodgy; even though you avoid saying so directly.

That was your first sentence on this thread. What do you mean by 'trust'? do you mean 'trust' as in the business/legal term, or do you mean 'trust' as in common use: to believe in someone/thing?

I'm sorry pinto, but you just followed the standard line on this forum about ETF's that is built upon ignorance.
