Maybe you are right and there are additional motivations for the artist. The worrying thing about it remains though, that talking about peaceful ends to the conflict is seen as 'dangerous'. With regards to Waters, he has always tried to make sure he isn't following the pack - definitely a good thing these days (especially if the pack seems to be saying: if you're for peace, you're against us). Also, you have to admit, he has always enjoyed being a bit obtuse (Pompei era interview comes to mind).
