Ann: Trading Halt, page-15

Got up this morning to let the dogs out of their kennels for a stretch. What's this, old GB halted up on the mat and doesn't want to move... Is this because she is ready for the races and will be off to the track soon!

With anticipation I get down to her for a closer look, she snarls. It seems there will be no track run for her for sometime, anemic and weak GB is apparently starving and needs some costly food to even get her out and about.

As I look out into the yard, I notice the rest of the dogs looking sad and slow and I wonder, is this game for me, are my pockets deep enough, do I have the patience, maybe instead of investing in food I should look about and buy a new pup or two and see if I can't finally get a place at the track.

GB lifts her head and with a glint of gold, gives me those puppy dog eyes, I reach into my pocket and toss her a liver treat as I imagine her in her prime coming first place in race Disallowed at the asx cup.
