correct, second link is for NIO car manufacturer who is claiming to have EV cars running on battery that doesn't use lithium but instead they use silicone.
Yes, toyota talks about hybrid and doesn't give clue on whether they will lithium as a part of that hybrid system or not.
I don't expect anything innovative or game changer coming out of old boys club (Toyota, GM, Ford) but instead there is higher chances of one of the chinese or tesla could get in first as those companies are very flexible in their approach to try different stuff in my opinion and also if it wasn't for EM the tesla would still be doing trial of EV vehicles
