What about the 24/7/365 maintenance, operations and security crews ? What about the constant maintenance and replacement schedules for the steam turbines, generators, switchgear, control systems etc ? What about the toxic waste it produces that has to be stored and monitored for thousands of years ?
Solar panels only last 15 years ? How does that work with their 25 year warranty ?
Transmission network upgrade ? We are constantly upgrading the network as the population grows. How about the cost of replacing every fossil power station in Australia that is rapidly approaching end of life ? Transmission upgrades for renewables will be in service for the next century. A fair return on investment I would say.
Agricultural loss ? Now you are really getting creative ? From solar panels on existing rooftops ? Or from wind turbines in paddocks with cattle grazing around them ?
Visual pollution ? Would you rather we get rid of cities, houses, roads, farms, existing power lines etc that are not part of the natural environment ?
Recycling industries are popping up now for both solar panels and wind turbines. Recyclable wind turbine blades have just entered the market recently.
