aye and that was what was said back in the '90s.....

the trouble is monarchism gains new adherents of all ages and this increases as people near their '50s - meaning they begin to adopt 1950's opinions on monarchy.

"I only saw her passing by,
Yet I'll Love her till I die"

poor old Sir Robert was smitten

but he did meet her while she was in her prime.

Meanwhile the movement for the Aus republic has gone from Aus peoples' consciousness thanks to all the other more important matters that have built up...... energy and global warming being the two highest priorities for most people.

But, on the other hand, the GG's imbroglio may have increased the Aus appetite for removing such governance ties with the UK.

We are a Free and Independent nation. So Why should we remain such close ties with our ancient Kingdom..... especially since talk of removing the monarchy is now high among Brits today.
