    this is the big point isn't it.... why do we have politicians making decisions that require expertise and scientific discipline.

    pollies come at it all with a vision of what they want to achieve and science, engineering and the like get in the way of learning how much to spend and how much to make back --- all transactional stuff, its what p0llies want.

    I think Aus is well suited to nuclear waste management. as long as its near a large body of water. but then of course the traditional, corporate and social interests might present some difficulties (cough).....

    the Hunter has huge holes in the ground that need filling in and using. they are unsuitable for water for human or animal use but good enough for pumped hydro. those that aren't could be used for nuclear recycling (haha) next to the horse studs and such.... it would be a much cleaner and safer environment than the worn out coal mine dust bowls spreading coal gas and dust all over the valley.

    it'd put the Hunter on the map (hehe)
