Depends on your time periods I guess.
Apologies for those who haven't had the best result until now, but for the newish VG1/8 investor - that's a nice discount in both VG1 & VG8, compounding by fully franked dividends at the discounted rate. More like a 30%-35% like-for-like discount compared to investing the same value in a unlisted mutual fund.
Compound that by VG1 being effectively ~52% in Cash (1 - net position), and VG8 similarly being ~32% in Cash and you have a screamingly cheap way to invest in overseas equities.
Final cherry, both are 100% AUD-hedged internally (albeit at manager discretion), and the "Performance Fee" won't be paid for years and years (and I'd likely be a very happy investor anyway if it ever was paid!).
