"So in this new world of Government control"

in Australia, this is the results of a LACK of government governing, a lack of control.

Government should never have given up control of power supplies and systems in Australia
Government should have had guaranteed gas and coal supplies etc. from companies at price caps for the powering of it's nation.

What we have is precisely the results of getting out of the way and letting business do business.

It gets worse, because when one looks at history - one sees that governments sold off assets for one reason - to fund their budgets, so they looked as if they were good money managers, - they were not, they covered their ineptitude by selling off pieces of the farm. Which, they sold off to business mates, who then proceeded to sell it off to foreigners, whilst paying themselves enormous fees.

Distilling back further, one finds that the problems of managing the entire thing situation and many other situations is that the federation is a massive fail, with Australia unable to operate as a real nation, but merely as a box of loose nuts rarely attempting to fly in formation.

what we are seeing in your described "So in this new world of Government control" -- are merely kneejerk panic reactions to a changing world.

the thing was badly flawed in the first place, then, abused by political failures over the decades.
