For underground mines 2g/t is profitable, due to the significantly superior Strip Ratios.

Take a look at Northern Star's Mt Charlotte. 1,200metres deep, not from surface like at Sams Creek, 2g/t gold grades and is still very profitable. As their presentation deck states "The gift that keeps on giving"

That's the beauty about these porphery and orogenic gold deposits.
