The UK's Automotive Transformation Fund provided Cornish Lithium Ltd with a grant as part of its Scale up Readiness Validation program.
It is not a loan.
The technology provided by LPD (L-Max & LOH-Max) has been piloted by CLL, and will now be scaled up to test the business case in the Demonstration Plant.
In December 2020, LPD provided CLL with several one-off special terms as part of the licence; including, up to a 15 year royalty holiday, a concessionary royalty rate of 1.5% of gross revenue from all chemical conversion plant products and geographic exclusivity over the St Austell, Cornwall granite.
Two years have nearly passed. If CLL starts production in 2026 (as it forecasts), then 6 years will have passed by, bringing closer the time at which LPD will start earning royalty revenues from this concessional licence - not just for lithium, but also the by-products, including gypsum, sulphate of potash, caesium and rubidium sulphate alum.
