Been sitting for a while and reading these old posts and thinking, shall I respond? Yeah, why not. I have never lived in the "Eastern" cities of Australia, but have lived in England, Wales, Germany and Perth, Australia for 30+ years. I have spent holidays in Melbourne, like it a lot.
Brisbane, gold coast and north of. Too humid for me, although there was plenty to see and do. Love the areas aroun Maleny, Glasshouse mtns etc. I reckon Queensland has the best drivers in Australia. They seemed to know what the next person was going to do and it all worked. I actually had fun driving there.Perth drivers are pigs. Anyway. Then around a week and a bit ago I had the misfortune to visit Sydney for the Top Gear show.( Top Gear good Misfortune was Sydney). Sydney has alot to see. The weather there is the worst for humidity that i have ever encountered ( been to Bali, Penang, Phuket ) worse than any of these places. The public transport system is better than Perth for getting somewhere but the quality of the infrastructure is disgusting. The number of buses and trains with no air conditioning or non functioning air con was unbelievable. I cannot believe Sydney hosted the Olympics with this crap. Even the buses in Penang were air cond. Public buildings were not far behind in sub standard climate control, and it seemed that the Hotel we stayed in and shopping centres were out to save power by not turning anything on. WOW, what a bitch session that was. How Sydney made the top 10 is beyond me
